With our forum gradually growing everyday in terms of user base, the number of questions being raised and solved has also gone up. Apart from just resolving problems and answering the queries, our forum has a bunch of proactive users who find errors, bugs and issues and solve them as well! We are proud to have such members and thankful for them for sharing those invaluable tips with all of us. Among them, ramli7 is a ace when it comes to solving problems. He has found a bug and has come up with a solution that has helped many others.
What’s the bug?
ramli7 found out that in Micromax MMX 300 C EVDO modem, if you set HSIA-only mode, it will display HSIA signal but the connection will be in CDMA 1X speed only [ in windows network connections - it will show as 153.6 Kbps (144kbps in theory) ]
How to fix?
Head over here and read the thread to know how to resolve this bug.
Finally, I thank ramli7 for finding a workaround to fix this bug and helping others.

As far as the quality of service in Raipur is still unknown, but in Jorhat, Sibsagar & Nazira one our forum member has mentioned that these places had hiccups initially and working fine at the moment. Ajmer and Pushkar has decent speeds. Ambikapur is reported to have good speeds.
Thanks to our forum members for updating us in this thread. If BSNL starts EVDO service (be it CDMA 1x or EVDO), please kindly inform us in that thread which helps others like it does in this post.

God’s own country Kerala now has a coverage in 112 locations as of now. BSNL, as we know is striving hard to give better coverage all over the country. Recently, BSNL Kerala, updated it’s website with a list of 112 locations having EVDO coverage.
The number of BTS (Base Terminal Station), powering those locations is not yet known. Most of the time in cities like Bangalore, each location will have it’s own BTS. But in small states with small cities and towns, many locations will be shared on a single BTS since they are capable of covering up to an radius of 5 to 7 Kilometers of even more.
You can view the list of 112 locations with EVDO coverage over here in this thread. I would like to thank Abhi1299 for bringing this into my concern.

The BSNL EVDO service is being billed under Landline CTBS system in most parts of India. Since this system is in practice from long time, most customers are used to it. But Chennai customers need to undergo a small change in their billing system.
Recently in Chennai, BSNL has changed their billing system from Landline CTBS to GSM billing system. Which means if you pay your current/next bill under regular landline CTBS counter, your subscription won’t be updated and will be manually transferred to GSM billing system. Continue reading »

One of the main attraction of EVDO is it’s promise to deliver high speed connectivity on the move. But unfortunately, since BSNL’s EVDO service is still in flux state here in India, we need to wait a lot before we can enjoy the luxury of the fully fledged EVDO internet service.
BSNL is striving hard to meet up to the promises they make (and perhaps the EVDO technology), to give good speeds to their users. Their efforts have been paid off in few regions where users are getting good speeds.

Finally after more than 2 years, BSNL has officially started advertising their EVDO service on their homepage. Eventually, they start broadcasting commercials on televisions, but before doing that they want to give out hot cakes to their customers and existing users!
After creating a lot of confusion amongst their customers by introducing/changing new tariff structures, now apparently they have come up with a rigid decision with irresistible offer. Before if you had to buy a new connection, you had several options (which were really confusing), but now they have 2 single plan and they are “Post paid” and “Pre-paid”.

Recently, BSNL has made a small changes in the tariff structure in Chennai. Unfortunately, it includes a bit of hike as well. So this post is a mixture of good news and as well as bad news.
I’m quoting vaithy’s post from the forum:
There are some good news for the old EVDO users and there are some bad news for the new users who are yet to take connection. Let us see the good news.. those who are paying Rs.550/ will have to shell out additional 100/- in their monthly bill.. provided they completed six months activation ..W.e.f 01-03-10 they will have to pay Rs.650/- (other circles users are already paying Rs.650/- so there is no increase for them..
The bad news is,
If you are a new user activating the card between 01-03-10 and 31-03-10 then will have to pay the monthly rental charges of Rs.750/-
and worse case is, users who are activating the cards after 31-03-10 have to pay Rs 999/- as monthly rental
Please see the attachment and post your comment.
Thanks

BSNL EVDO Coverage

This is the question that I come across many times in the forum, site comments and even via emails. Lot of people still do not have any idea about where to get the new connection and buy the device. So just to clear out that doubt among the mass, I decided to write this post. So here is how one can get a BSNL EVDO Connection.
First things first..
BSNL EVDO is offered officially by BSNL. Since they do not have any official name for this service, people call it “BSNL EVDO”. The irony is, even workers at BSNL will say “BSNL EVDO”. They must come up with some name like they have for other services.
