Evdo Signal Boost ...YES ..It is possible and you have got the Stuff in the BOX!!
Bsnl Evdo Signal Boost!!Secrets of the ZTE MG-478 USB Modem Extension Y Cable!

Hi thr!
Hope this tutorial is going to help all the BSNL EVDO users.I want to make it simple and easy for you. Please follow this guide and post your comments because they are going help me in making the external antenna.

This is about using the USB extension cable that we have got with the BSNL EVDO package. There are two things i want to mention abt the Extension Y Cable. It can function as an extender and as a booster at the same time.see how it works.please see the fig below

see the link for a better image Extension of Y cable

USB Y CABLE

Using the USB Modem Extension Y Cable:

1) Plug the single end of the Y-shaped cable into the ZTE MG-478 USB MODEM .indicated (A)

2) plug either one of the two connected ends of the USB
modem extension Y cable into the USB port(s) on your computer.indicated(B) #1 nd #2

How is the signal getting boosted?
a)increases the RF performance
b)solve any computer USB port clearance issues

Lets see how it works and the secret behind it

The USB modem extension Y cable connector labeled #1, is the primary data power cable used to either extend the BSNL EVDO USB modem away from your
computer allowing you to locate the modem in a more optimum signal location
or to solve any computer USB port clearance issues.

The USB modem extension Y cable connector labeled #2, is a power boost Y cable and must be used with
connector #1 to provide the modem up to 1Amp of current for use in weaker signal
areas. Must be connected to two separate USB ports.

[b]This is very important:

It has been tested with the typical personal computer with a USB port. This USB device
must not be co-located or operated in conjunction with any other antenna
or transmitter
. If you use this USB device in any other configuration, the
FCC RF Exposure compliance limit can be exceeded.

PS. Ok guys plz dont make or try an external antenna with zte usb modem now.we are on the process for a perfect external antenna.

Your feedback/suggestions are valuable to us.Plz dont hesitate to post your comments.Happy browsing.
Thankyou

RE: Evdo Signal Boost ...YES ..It is possible and you have got the Stuff in the BOX!!
yar whats new in this, though good research. lets hope something from 'mmmishea'...when he will post his tutorials...

but one thing that RPSMA pin proved to be controversial thing after i consulted with a vendor on that. he told me that this SMA pin won't work with this EVDO device, you need to find some other alternative. now thats the big hurdle. i have seen that SMA pin...am confused what to do

Obviously ..this is new.
Ever tried connecting the device with y cable in to two separate USB ports(not whr u see 2 usb ports together)
see this image and follow it ..find the changes.

Your BSNL evdo modem gets
1Amp of current for use in weaker signal(it means signal Boost)

It takes hardly 2 mins to do it.try it and let me know.
About the antenna u need a FME male adaptor and one SMA female. I request all of my friends who are working with the external antenna to join and make a group..share the information we got.

This is a sample pic only:[Image: antennanu1.gif]

ZTE MG-478/AC8700 is one .the adaptor for most of the ZTE devices are the same.Made for different service providers for modifications like ZTE MG-478 is widely known for 450 mhz operation in CDMA network and AC8700 FOR 800 mhz.
