Getting 1x only in EVDO TOWER, Please Help

I live in Koramangala, Bangalore.
Today I got evdo connection on rent. I got USB one. Koramangala has EVDO towers, I have confirmed with BSNL Koramangala Exchange. I installed the drivers and checked that its showing 1x only and orange light is blinking instead green. When I went there they give me two options. First 1x pcmcia card and second evdo usb modem. I opted evdo modem. They took deposit of 1000. They told me rent will be 750. I confirmed with them several times that they are giving Evdo connection.
but its showing 1x only.

is there any setting I have to change in modem to get the Evdo network or they will configure it in exchange? The connection is not activated yet as I got it today, so will it automatically switch to Evdo after activation?
I have read edit prl file in forum, but dont know how to edit it

Please note: I have taken evdo plan. Infact they asked me which connection you want. I told them high speed evdo connection. They told me rent will be 550 + 200. Koramangala has evdo coverage, i have confirmed with bsnl exchange.

If its not activated yet, you won't be able to connect!!!
First of all, wait until its activated, then try again. Normally they take 24 Hrs to activate.
Even after activation, if you are getting 1X only, take the device and go to the customer care center, Koromangala. Tell them that you are not getting cdma.

Please Visit the Exchange and get ur device reconfigured for EV-DO.
Tell them to perform the reprogrammnig for the EV-DO Network
Then u must be able to get the EVDO signal. Remember that the password for evdo connection would be ur device phone no.
After that if u face the problem of the network cange, Please Visit
