The Device is Same ZTE AC8700. However the Dialer shows voice calling and sms feature. May be it has upgardede fimware. If you want I will post the scrren shot of the dialer with the feature enabled. for that modem(my friend's)
When I plug my modem in the same laptop , the calling and sms features disappears.

This new dialer software adds a service called "UDisk Monitor". The startup is automatic, meaning the service would run all the time. No idea what it does. No network activity too.
I hate programs that run background daemons. Why would they need a service?

how to remove software dialer bundled (Chinanet) with modem? i want to used ZTE UI dialer, but i can't used it for dialing. the software is customised by Chinanet.

Hey Alamodein,
I agree with you about the dialer option, even my modem gives me the option of dialing,sms. It dials and displays talking and the timer counts but i dont receive the call or sms. yes the new modems with the same model have new firmware .but mine doesnt actually call(Though it has the option)..Maybe it is disabled by the admin near my area!!!!!

THe new modem is also the same model ZTE AC8700 and looks same. I think they have upgraded the firmware to enable VOice calling amd SMS.

THe new features of the Dialer software includes a phone dialer to dial a call, a sms sender to send a SMS and call records to see the calls done.

THe software also provides facilty to change the network EVDO or CDMA 1x in the 'Settings' window.
This is required because to make call the network has to first selected to cdma 1x, then the calling and sms works.

One more thing I want to inform that, if you install this dialer with the old modem(without calling and sms facility), the software will not show the Call Records, Phone Dialer, SMS Sender and network changing features.

Calling and SMS features work with new modem only.

TO check if I could enable the calling and sms in my old modem, I loaded the ini(settings) and the prl of the new modem to my old modem, but it didnt work,

I am also checking for the firmware or other tricks to enable calling and sms
