friends, i m one of the first users to take evdo in cochin. i got the modem for a rental of 250 or so... at that time the price of the device was 6500. now that the price of the devoce is 3500 and there are roumers that the price will drop again to 2600.. i think the first users will have to pay the price of the modem at the initial rate. so ask ur bsnl officer to allow u to purchase the device for rs 3500(ready payment)..
in this way u save ur rental of 250 a month for mant months.. u ll be saving rs 3000/-... try this and host ur opinions...

I may be the first to grab it in November 2007 in bangalore when i bought the device was 7,500. But I opted for rental plan instead.

And btw, yes I was thinking the same. By paying the device cost. We can avoid the rental.

I'm still confused whether to go for purchase or rental - purchase seems more cost effective. Hell I paid 5k for that crap USB modem - It would have been better if I'd gone for a cheap EDGE phone and take up a prepaid connection Guests cannot see images in the messages.
