I downloaded the file "1211518566254.rar" corresponding to the link for the "AC8700 EVDO Modem V2.4.23 Driver" on the download page. The download size is considerably less than the original installer (~4MB vs ~28MB). The reduced bloat looked promising - a possible indicator of good things - smaller, faster code. After the install, it's been so far so good. I didn't get any of the "No RU IM" or "RUIM missing" errors that some people in this thread complained about (I think it was wrt another version of the drivers). I haven't noticed any major improvements so far - of course torrents still suck, and http downloads are just as smooth as before (average ~100 kBps with downThemAll). I haven't compared driver versions (with the CD version) to see if they're really upgraded. However, the UI has a few changes from the standard app that comes on the BSNL CD. The color themes (skins) have gone missing; there is only one color right now: blue. Awwwwww noooo!! Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images. Functionality is a bit improved - there are options to authenticate via CHAP or PAP on the settings popout. CHAP authentication seems to be working fine right now, which is good news since passwords aren't sent in cleartext in CHAP (correct me if I'm wrong). Last of all, the dialler has a BSNL logo stuck on its face that is slightly annoying because it reduces the readability of the network xfer stats. I guess a screenshot is worth a thousand words: Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images. Welcome bro!
Yeah, the skins are gone and the logo is bit annoying. But, if you look at the installation folder, you will find a SKIN-BSNL folder under the Skins folder. That has the logo in it! May be we can try manipulating that... (I haven't tried yet, cause this was OK for me Guests cannot see images in the messages. Please register in our forum for free by clicking here to see images., Infact I like to see the BSNL... ) For the driver, I found there is another update available. What we can try is to do and "Update Driver" from the device manager. We can update the Modem, and the 2 PORTS. There may not be any improvement in the connection speeds, but surely there would have been some bug fixes !!! I am not usre about CAHP authentication, because that was not working for me !!! Let me know... |

i was able to disable the BSNL logo. Just go to file C:\Program Files\ZTE Wireless Terminal\Skin\Skin0.txt (ur installation folder might be different). edit line : ConnectionInfoBkg=Skin-BSNL\NetInfo.bmp to ConnectionInfoBkg=SkinA\NetInfo.bmp and restart the ZTE app.... :-) that it .... RE: ZTE Related software / Manual links only : Share software for EVDO card Here
@all.
hi there. the driver uploaded by member stupidshark are for the uim version of the device. Actually u must have seen the sim card slot behind the device, that is a uim slot, which is disabled in our devices, but in some countries, the device is available with uim slot activated, so that u can shift the operator. so they wont work on our zte evdo card. Hi all ABOUT THE ESN CAHNGER, I WOULD SUGGEST , DON'T MESS WITH IT. ESN is just like IMEI of the evdo card. it is electronic serial number. the nam MIN id (the phone number related with the evdo card) is registered with respect to the ESN only, so changing esn may bring consequences like permanent login faliure, or temporary network failure. IF U WANT TO EXPERIMENT, DO ON YOUR OWN RISK, AND YES, CHANGING THE ESN IS ILLEGAL. Madanmohan mishra (NGP ) |
